Martabak manis
Martabak Manis is indonesian style thick pancake, and our famous late night snack (street food). You can easily find any 'gerobak' selling this martabak manis along the road every night.
Martabak manis have many kind of flavor, my favorite one is peanut & grated coconut. they also have other flavor like cheese, chocolate, durian, banana and now people developed it into more fancy flavor using nutelle, ovomaltine, kitkat and others. But, i still prefer old style martabak with peanut & grated coconut :)
This time, i tried making martabak at home for the first time and it SUCCESS. Thanks a lot for monic simply kitchen for sharing such an easy recipe to create this martabak. because i don't have grated coconut at home, just simply filled with cheddar cheese & sweet condensed milk. just spread whatever you like.
Martabak Manis
make 1 (24-26 cm round pan)
Ingredients
100 gr high protein flour
150 ml water
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
6 tbsp sweet condensed milk
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
Filling
Cheddar Cheese, grated
sweet condensed milk
peanut
Margarin, for spread the outside skin
Method
1. Combine all the ingredient in a bowl, and whisk until well combine
2. Let the batter sit for 1 hour (cover the bowl with cling wrap or kitchen towel)
3. After one hour, stir/whisk lightly the batter
4. Turn on low heat in stove and heat the pan until the heat heavenly, then pour in 2/3 batter to the pan (my pan is 26cm round)
5. Let it cook and will appear a lot of small hole in the surface. Spread some sugar and close pan with the lid
6. After it done, spread the filling inside, and spread the outside skin with margarine
